Back this time last year I was broke. I am an ‘ex-pat’ and I live in a country where the unemployment rate is high and my ability to get a well-paid secure job is virtually nil, as my command of the local language is not sufficient to gain employment in the areas I am trained and qualified for.

Most people in this situation set up their own business, looking at the markets available and trying to secure a place within the most lucrative ones. Many of these people fail. I did not wish to be among that number, so I took stock of what my ‘expertise’ and abilities actually are. Well, the results were not that impressive.

I am not a ‘handyman’, a builder, an estate agent, or a chef, neither do I wish to make money selling time shares to the unwary, or working almost 24/7 in a tourist bar. So what could I do?

The only thing that came to mind was to work on the net and try to make money that way, so I began to study how other people manage this.

From my findings, it appears that there are many people online who are not actually making any money at all, or very little, and of those that do bring in the cash, most appear to be selling ‘get rich quick’ schemes to others. This was not a path I wanted to take. So I looked for options which would work.

And I discovered adult blogging. I won’t link to any of the adult blogs I make in this post (although, for anyone interested, you can find a link in the ‘About’ Page). I worked hard (incredibly hard) at making money this way, and the results paid off - not a lot at first, but nowadays I can make a reasonable living this way. I have actually published a blog which tells you all about this, and how you can, with hard work, do the same, so if you want to take a look, please feel free to do so.

However, being in the business of selling membership to online sex sites can leave you a little out in the cold. If you comment on ‘mainstream’ blogs, many will think you are a spammer; not true in my case - I just like to talk - and, although this industry is highly supportive of its webmasters, there are times when you want to expand and become one of the ‘acceptable’ online entrepreneurs, so recently I began building blogs and the odd website selling to a more general market. And that’s when I really found the sharks!

I had already signed up as an affiliate for a couple of the ‘big boys’ in the ‘make money online’ niche. I was able to use their banners on some of my ‘adult but not too explicit’ blogs. However, had I signed up to their ‘how to’ programs myself? Of course not. Call me a hypocrite if you like, but I will never spend my hard earned money unless I see no other alternative and studying these courses takes time which, for me, was better spent building more blogs and actually making money. I did, however, think these courses could be useful for others who had the time, and the cash, to spare. I have now changed my opinion on most of them.

Over the last few weeks, I have been really concentrating on selling mainstream niches and I knew my ’skills’ learned within the adult network would not necessarily work in this area (although many do), so I did a lot more research. My results showed me what I had suspected for a while: most of the ‘big names’ in the ‘make money online’ industry may know just how to make money for themselves, but haven’t a clue how to teach other people to do this. In fact I would go as far as to say that the more people who are successful at selling on the net, the harder it will be for the so-called ‘experts’ to continue to make a killing. Perhaps another reason why they will never give you the whole story - or am I being too cynical here?

However, as I dug deeper, I found some ‘good guys’. They are very unlikely to know me, as I am yet to make myself known to them, so I hope they won’t mind me linking to them here. As far as I can see (and I have a real cynical nature), guys like Vic, Court, and Griz, are the good guys. They will go out of their way to help people make money online. They don’t give you any bullshit. If they provide an affiliate link to something, they tell you why and even not to click on it if you can’t afford it, or are not ready to use it (and suggest free alternatives instead). Their approaches are all different, but the main thing is that they actually seem to like it when others make money - and that’s the difference between these guys and ‘the A Listers’.

There are other ‘good guys’ out there, appearing online daily, but to me it seems that they are all vastly overshadowed by the scam artist, so they are very difficult to find for the unwary.

Of course, If I have any suspicions that any of the online entrepreneurs I’ve listed here (or any others I list later on) are not quite as good as they appear to be, I will definitely write my thoughts down on this blog. But for the time being, they seem genuine enough. I may even post a comment to one of their blogs soon - (after all, I have a more ‘respectable’ blog to link to in my signature now ;)

Anyway, that’s a little about my background in the ‘make money on the net’ business. Perhaps in the next post I can get on with telling it like it is. After all, that is what I hope this blog will be about.
