Making Money by Questioning the Good Guys
In an effort to make money on the net, you need to be aware that the people you associate with, as an ‘entrepreneur blogger’ will most often be concerned with making a living the same way as you. Including the ‘good guys’.
I mentioned a few of these in my How Do I Not Get Scammed post and linked to 3 particular bloggers who I said were interested in helping others make money as well as themselves. I still feel that, on the whole, this is the case.
However, as I also said, I am a cynic.
One of the three - Griz - constantly warns people not to spend money on products ‘to help them’ until they are ready to use them, or cannot find a free or cheaper alternative. He does offer affiliate links to these products, but always tends to give the above warning to his readers. The other two guys, well, they do provide an awful lot of free information on making money on the net; much more in my opinion than the ‘A List’ do, but their advice very often tends to rely on the use of marketing products, which they supply affiliate links for.
Now, don’t get me wrong. Those of us who are in the business of selling online know the score. We know the importance of affilate links and, if we provide good, honest information along the way to our regular readers, why shouldn’t we benefit from our readers’ purchases of the products we are selling? After all, if we know the product will help them as much as it has helped us, surely there is nothing wrong with making some extra bucks this way?
No there isn’t. Nothing at all. We are all out to make a living, so why not shove in the odd link along the way? I did in my previous post (although with no great intention) after all.
It just makes me a little suspicious…
For example, Court is doing very well with his marketing strategies, based on ideas he has shared with his readers in an excellent post on ‘Keyword sniping’, plus many other SEO methods he is willing to share. I’m pleased for him and I hope that his success making money with these skills gives others the impetus to begin online businesses which are every bit as successful. But I have noticed that an awful lot (not all I must add) of his cash building strategies are focused around a product he recommends as an affiliate. And this product is not cheap.
In his original post, Court recommended using the free version of this product and later, when people could afford it, purchasing the full version. It now turns out, however, that the free product is not very good, but the paid version is excellent. Court, and other commentators on his blog assure anyone questioning this that the full version is worth the money (despite the fact it still has some customer sevice issues) and that the free version bears no comparison to it.
But how do we know without spending our hard earned cash on this product?
As I said, the product is very expensive, especially when compared to similar, probably much more comprehensive, products I have bought to help me make money from my adult blogs. It’s a shame that the two versions do not overlap. I’ll have to speak to the producer of the ‘adult’ one. He could me making a killing here too!
The adult products for running an efficient online business I have mentioned above are well worth the money. I use them every day and therefore have no doubt to their effectiveness in doing the job well, so I guess the same could be said for the product which Court is advertising as well as demonstrating the use of. It’s just that in his first article he told everyone to use the free version first….
Many web entrepreneurs say, “You have to spend money to make money”. To an extent I agree with this, as long as you have made the money to spend first.
The three guys I mentioned all still seem to be doing their utmost to help others get started in what can be a cut throat online venture. I have no worries about that (not yet, anyway). But I would hate to see new readers of the ‘good guys’ blogs’ get carried away in their adoration of these guys and spend cash they cannot afford on products they may not be ready to use.
It’s definitely not the best way to make money on the net.
